The dashboard

Notifications and Amazon messages

The events MerchPPC can tell you about, where they appear, the toolbar badge and the Amazon Merch messages panel.

Notifications are set in Settings → Notifications and apply to this browser only.

Where a notification appears

  • A desktop banner from Chrome. If Chrome blocks notifications for the extension, the page says so and where to turn them back on; Send a test notification shows what would happen now.
  • A toast in the corner of the dashboard, instead of a banner, while the dashboard has focus.
  • The Activity tab of the envelope in the dashboard header, which keeps what was delivered. A switched-off event is not recorded there, so each row in Settings names where its fact still shows.

Quiet hours and Mute everything silence banners and sounds; the tab-title sales count and the toolbar badge stay.

The events

Each has a desktop alert switch; those marked "sound" also have a sound (None, Cash register, Chime, Coin, Pop or Soft low).

  • A sale (sound); a return or cancellation (sound).
  • A batch finished (sound); a publish run finished or stopped.
  • Amazon decided on a design; Amazon posted a message.
  • Tier went up (sound); first sale of a product (sound).
  • Products about to be removed.
  • Syncing stopped.
  • A lookout proposed something.

Toolbar badge

The number on the extension icon shows today's sales (net of cancellations, all marketplaces) by default. In Settings → Notifications you can change it to today's royalties (one currency) or turn it off. While syncing is stopped it turns red and the tooltip says why.

Amazon Merch messages

The envelope in the header holds a Messages tab with the programme news Amazon posts on its Merch dashboard (deadlines, policy changes). The extension reads that same panel with your Amazon session, about every three hours, as text, and keeps the newest twenty in this browser. Nothing is sent to merchppc.com. Links are kept only when they point to Amazon's own sites.

The first read is a baseline: what is already on the panel is listed but not announced, so a new install does not open with a banner about old posts. Later posts raise the Amazon posted a message notification and an unread count. A failed read changes nothing and is retried in an hour.
