Rank tracking
Daily sales rank, rank and review columns, search-term positions and the lookouts that watch them. Search rank is Pro.
MerchPPC keeps a history of where each product stands: its Best Sellers Rank, its reviews and rating, and where it appears when a shopper searches for a term. Every reading is made by your own browser, from Amazon's public pages, and kept in the database in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Sales rank and reviews
The extension reads product pages after each sync, most recently sold first. Products with an enabled ad in an enabled campaign are read once a day (up to 500 of them, most recently sold first), so a change you made yesterday shows up. Other products come round every few days.
This reading is on by default. If it is switched off (Settings › General › Collect sales rank and reviews), no product pages are read and these figures stop moving.
Four columns on the product tables compare today's reading with an earlier one. They are hidden by default; turn them on in the column menu.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Rank 7d Δ | The change in sales rank against a reading at least 7 days earlier. A rise is a worse rank. |
| New reviews 30d | Reviews gained against a reading at least 30 days earlier. |
| Rating 30d Δ | The change in star rating over the same 30 days. |
| Best search rank | The product's best organic position among the search terms tracked for it, shown as #n. |
A product with no earlier reading shows nothing in these columns; it is never shown as unchanged.
Search rank (Pro)
Open a product and look for the Search rank section: where this product appears for each search term. Each row has the term, its Organic and Sponsored position, a 30-day line, and where the term came from.
- Terms come from the product's ads. You can add your own with Add term, pause a term, or remove it.
- Each term is searched on Amazon from your browser and the first two result pages are read. A product not found in those pages is shown as not found, never as position zero.
- The position is the place among organic results; sponsored is the place among ads.
Search rank is part of Pro. On Free the section says so and reads nothing.
The daily allowance
Reads are capped at 1,500 search result pages per marketplace per day, two pages per term. The allowance is separate from the product-page reading above. When it is used up, reading resumes the next day; the count for today is shown in the section. If Amazon asks for a check, the extension stops reading that marketplace for a while rather than pushing on.
Watch lookouts
Three templates in the lookout gallery report on these columns and propose nothing:
- Sales rank worsened — products whose rank is more than 50% worse than a week ago.
- New reviews — products with more reviews than 30 days ago.
- Star rating fell — products whose rating is lower than 30 days ago.
Find them under Optimize › Your lookouts › New lookout. They run on the same numbers as the columns, so a lookout fires on the figure you can see. See Your first Lookout.
